Stand By Theatre Company
We are a Lincoln based theatre company that unearths hidden stories. We believe that theatre can heal, recover and unite. Our team work collectively to devise theatre that draws from personal experiences and portrays the emotional journey behind each story, transforming the most personal accounts into a shared understanding.
The Room at the Top of the House follows the story of a young adult struggling with his mental health and unable to face the outside world.
The show is being supported by Lincolnshire One Venues; we will be working within three Lincolnshire arts centres to consult with young people as potential audiences and with local carer support groups to inspire the creative material followed by a couple of work-in-progress showings at the venues.
The aim of the project is to reduce stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health and in particular, give a voice to those who are unable to communicate their feelings with others, ultimately asking audiences to be more self-aware of their own mental health.
We are looking for performers with strong devising abilities and basic experience in physical theatre would be helpful.
Rehearsal dates: Throughout January, 2nd & 3rd February, 15th & 16th February, 27th March – 6th April (Final performances will be taking place at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre on 5th & 6th April. January rehearsals will be a mixture of daytime, evening and weekend rehearsals due to space availability at the venue)
Fee = £1,595.00 (Subject to the outcome of our funding application – performers may be asked to work unpaid. Please bare this in mind when applying for the position)
Please email a recent CV and a covering statement that explains why you would like to be involved with this project to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on Saturday 17th December.
